About SMA
A studio built around one thing: doing it properly.
SMA was founded in Taliparamba in 2023 by Shebin Mathew, out of a simple frustration with how disconnected design and construction usually are in Kerala — a designer who hands off to a contractor who has never met them. We set out to run both under one roof, so families building from Kochi or Kannur, or from Dubai and London, get one team accountable for the whole project, not a chain of handoffs.
Why work with us?
Why families choose SMA.
A personal design process
Every project is led directly by our team, start to finish. You work with the people making the design decisions, not a handover chain.
End-to-end execution
Design, structure, interiors and construction under one roof, giving you a single point of accountability from first sketch to handover.
Built around distance
A large part of our practice is designing for Kerala families living abroad. Reviews, updates and site supervision are built for that from day one, not bolted on when you ask.
Deep local knowledge
Kerala's climate, materials, craftsmen and approval processes, handled by people who have worked with them since 2023.
The Team
The people behind the work.
A small in-house team of architects, designers and site engineers, led directly by the studio's founder on every project.
